Succulent nutrient soil requirements

Whether succulents can be grown well or not, not only depends on the cultivation skills, but also has a lot to do with the soil. Generally, the nutrient soil for succulents can be prepared with 5 peat soil + 5 honeycomb cinders. This is one of the simplest soil preparation methods for succulents.

You can buy some peat soil and keep it at home for use. It can be used for almost all flowers. Honeycomb coal slag is a kind of homemade granular soil. If you don't have it at home, you can go to the night market or barbecue stall to ask the boss for a bag. Go home and break it up, soak it in water and wash it several times, filter it into particles of different sizes, small ones are mixed with soil, and large ones are used to pad the bottom of the pot. It is very practical.

How to prepare succulent nutrient soil

1. According to different cultivation tools

The choice of succulent soil will be different when planted on the ground and in flowerpots. For succulents planted on the ground, attention should be paid to the drainage of the soil. Generally, sand and pebbles can be added to improve drainage.

2. Supplement organic matter

On the one hand, the soil for succulents should be loose enough, and on the other hand, it should be rich in the nutrients needed by succulents. When cultivating succulents in pots, the soil should be loose and breathable, supplemented with organic matter. Succulent soil needs to add some humus to improve problems such as soil barrenness.

3. Consider the lighting

Succulents can be placed on the balcony, where there is plenty of sunlight. At the same time, the succulent soil should have improved water retention capabilities, and strong bases such as vermiculite and coconut coir should be added. Some succulents do not like strong sunlight and are usually placed in a cool, dark place. A mixture of garden soil, humus soil, perlite, orchid stone, peat, etc. can be used.

4. Choose according to the variety of succulent plants

Leaf mold should be added to the soil for succulents, which can make them grow faster. Nutrients are indispensable if you want to have strong branches and leaves. Representative succulents such as sand palms grow slowly and do not need additional leaf mold.

Key points for preparing succulent nutrient soil

When preparing the nutrient soil for succulents, pay attention to watering them appropriately. In spring, summer and autumn, water them based on the dryness and wetness of the potting soil. Succulents cannot be exposed to the rain for too long.

At the same time, do not allow water to accumulate in the potting soil when watering to avoid root and leaf rot. The potting soil must be loose and breathable. You can use leaf mold or peat soil and add perlite, coarse sand, or medical stone to increase ventilation and drainage.
