How to propagate lipstick spider plant by cuttings

1. Cutting selection

   The cuttings should be taken from healthy and plump mother plants, generally cut off at 7-10 cm , cut off the bottom branches and leaves , leaving 3-5 branches and leaves on the top , and then soak them in nutrient solution to disinfect and stop the wound .

2. Cutting soil

   The soil used for lipstick spider plant cuttings must be prepared in advance. The rhizomes are relatively fragile after being cut, so loose, breathable , fertile, well-drained acidic soil must be used. It can be made by mixing leaf mold, garden soil, coarse sand, perlite, sawdust, etc.

3. Insert the seeds into the soil

   When planting cuttings in the soil, you can first poke a hole in the soil surface with a small stick, then put the processed branches in , about 4-5 cm deep , and then use your fingers to compact the surrounding soil to prevent the branches from tilting.

Precautions for cuttings of lipstick spider plant

1. Watering

After the lipstick spider plant is inserted into the soil, it should be watered thoroughly once, and then wait for the soil to dry before continuing to water it to ensure that the soil in the pot is moist.

2. Temperature

It should also be moved to a ventilated semi-shaded environment. The temperature should not be too high and the light should not be too strong. You can cover it with a plastic bag or plastic wrap to control the temperature. Generally, it will take about one to two months for it to take root and become a seedling.
