Precautions for repotting Jade Dew When is the best time to repot Jade Dew?

Jade dew is a succulent plant with a very transparent texture. Many flower lovers grow jade dew potted plants, mostly placed on the balcony or on the desk, which looks like a work of art. So what should you pay attention to when repotting jade dew?

When is the right time to repot the Jade Dew?

Generally speaking, after 1-2 years of planting and maintenance of jade plant, the nutrients in the soil can no longer supply the later growth of jade plant, and it is necessary to repot it.

The newly bought jade dew is generally maintained for 7-10 days before repotting . The temperature changes little in spring and autumn, and the climate is mild, which is suitable for the growth of jade dew plants. Most jade dew can be potted at this time. The jade dew cultivated in the greenhouse can be repotted all year round .

Things to note when repotting Jade Dew

1. Flowerpot selection

The new flowerpot needs to be soaked in clean water for 24 hours, and try not to use a plastic pot. Choose a ceramic pot . The size should be slightly larger than the jade plant, 2-3 cm. Good air permeability is more conducive to the growth of the plant's roots.

2. Gently shake the flower pot

About a week after the jade plant is repotted, some new roots will grow at the base and the old roots will begin to adapt to the new soil. At this time, you can gently shake the pot to promote the integration of the roots and the soil.

Key points for repotting Jade Dew

1. Root pruning and drying

When repotting the jade plant, you must prune its roots, trim off all rotten roots , and re-prune the fibrous roots above the taproot. After pruning the roots, you need to soak it in a diluted carbendazim solution, and then place it in a cool place to dry naturally for 2 to 3 days.

2. Watering

Do not water the jade plant immediately after repotting . Generally, water it after a week . Place the jade plant in a well-ventilated place with diffused light. Do not water it heavily in the later stage. It is better to keep it dry than wet.

3. Soil for repotting

When planting jade plants, you need to choose loose, breathable and fertile soil , and spread larger particles of crushed coal slag on the bottom of the flowerpot. You can also choose perlite, peat soil, chlorite and phytolith, mix and sterilize them before use to ensure the air permeability of the soil.
