How to make Kalanchoe survive easily by cuttings (a method to propagate Kalanchoe with a high survival rate by cutting branches)

First, the time for cutting of Kalanchoe:

The flowering period of Kalanchoe is relatively long, and some varieties can bloom for about 200 days. Kalanchoe blooming is often encountered in spring and summer, which are suitable for cuttings. So don't be too anxious, you can wait until the flowers have finished blooming before pruning and cutting .

Note when taking cuttings:

1. After the flowers bloom, trim the withered flowers of the Kalanchoe, then apply a thin layer of fertilizer once, about 10 days later, and then proceed with pruning and cuttings.

2. When doing cuttings, pay attention to the climate temperature. Whether it is spring cuttings or any other time, as long as the temperature is within the suitable growth temperature, about 18 to 28 degrees Celsius, cuttings can be done.

Second, the preparation of cuttings for Kalanchoe:

Take the top bud of the Kalanchoe and cut it off with scissors, leaving 4 leaves on the top bud, about 15 cm in length. After cutting it, place it in a cool and ventilated place to let the wound dry. When the wound is dry and slightly shrunk, you can start cuttings.

Third, the planting materials used for cutting propagation of Kalanchoe:

For cuttings of Kalanchoe, it is recommended that you use mixed soil and planting materials that are loose and breathable, not compacted or waterlogged, and slightly acidic and lightly fertilized. You can mix 1/3 of honeycomb coal powder + humus soil + garden soil, and add 10% of perlite as a cutting planting material.

Fourth: Maintenance and management of Kalanchoe after cutting:

After cuttings, move the Kalanchoe to a location with bright light and good ventilation. Keep the soil dry and moist. Spray the shallow surface soil about twice a day. The Kalanchoe will grow roots in about 15 days.

Then you can move the Kalanchoe to a location where it gets light for about 3 hours a day, taking care to avoid strong light.

[Summary] It is relatively easy to propagate Kalanchoe by cuttings. It mainly depends on the time and temperature, the treatment of the cuttings, the use of planting materials that are suitable for growth, and the maintenance of moisture and heat. The survival rate of the cuttings is quite high.
