Cultivation methods and precautions of colorful taro

The genus Echinops is a famous foliage plant, belonging to the genus Echinops of the Araceae family. It is sometimes also called colorful taro. Summer is the main viewing period of the colorful taro. The leaves are colorful and very beautiful, making it very suitable for indoor potted maintenance.

How to cultivate colorful taro

1. Temperature

The colorful taro grows vigorously in a warm environment, and the best maintenance temperature is between 20-30 degrees. It is not cold-resistant. In winter or late autumn, when the temperature drops below 15 degrees, it will begin to enter a dormant state, and the leaves will slowly wither. It is easy to get frostbite when the temperature drops below 15 degrees.

2. Watering

The colorful taro is in a state of continuous growth in spring, summer and autumn. During this period, it needs more light and regular watering to keep the soil moist. Do not let the soil dry out frequently. In winter when the temperature is relatively low, it needs very little water, so be sure to stop watering.

3. Fertilization

To maintain the potted taro, you need to fertilize it reasonably. As long as it is growing, you can fertilize it regularly. For example, when the temperature is between 20 and 30 degrees, you can add water-soluble fertilizer every 15-20 days. In spring and autumn, you can bury some slow-release fertilizer in the flowerpot.

Precautions for the maintenance of colorful taro

When the maintenance temperature of the taro is too high, you should pay attention to providing appropriate shade. It does not like excessive exposure to the sun. For example, as long as the temperature rises to 32 degrees, you can provide appropriate shade at noon and in the afternoon, or pull up a shade net.

Although the taro likes a humid environment, it is not tolerant to waterlogging. Therefore, when watering, you should avoid making the soil too wet. It is best to open the windows for ventilation after watering to speed up the evaporation of water, thus avoiding the occurrence of water accumulation.
