How to grow asparagus seeds

How to grow asparagus seeds

Asparagus seeds can be harvested once a year. Since asparagus grows very slowly, it usually matures in April every year and can be harvested within one month after maturity. If harvesting in the second year, it can be postponed by 10 days.

There is a very thick layer of wax on the surface of asparagus seeds, which are not easy to absorb water. They must be soaked and germinated and treated with chemicals before they can be sown. The germination rate of the treated seeds is higher.

Asparagus seed sowing time

Asparagus seeds are best planted in spring from April to May each year, because the temperature at this time is stable at above 20 degrees, and the temperature in the soil is relatively high. After the litchi seeds are planted, they can germinate as soon as possible. In addition, be careful not to plant asparagus seeds in rainy weather, otherwise there will be too much water accumulation, causing root rot and leading to the death of reed seeds.

How to Plant Asparagus Seeds

The soil for growing asparagus is generally sandy loam, and the terrain should be slightly higher so that the drainage capacity will be stronger. The soil before planting asparagus cannot have been used to grow crops such as radishes and green vegetables. Deep plowing is required before sowing, and 3,000 kilograms of decomposed organic fertilizer should be sprinkled into the soil as base fertilizer per acre.
