How many days does the carrot growing period last?

The growth process of carrots starts with sowing seeds on finely crushed culture soil. After planting, they need to be watered thoroughly with a fine-hole spray bottle to keep warm and moist. Seedlings will emerge in about 15 days, and the time from rosette stage to harvest and root collection accounts for about 2/5 of the entire growth period.

Carrot growing season

The growing period of carrots is about 90-120 days. The sowing time of spring carrots is generally from mid-March to the end of April, and harvesting begins in early May. The time for planting carrots in summer and autumn is generally sowing in May and June, and harvesting in July and August. In addition, in the southern region, sowing is generally from early July to late August, and harvesting is in late December.

Carrot Growing Conditions

1. Temperature: When the soil temperature is stable at above 8 degrees, it can be sown, and it will start to germinate at above 15 degrees. The most suitable temperature for its growth is 23-25 degrees, and 10-15 degrees at night. The large temperature difference determines the superior quality of carrots and increased sugar content.

2. Water: When the soil moisture content is above 20%, carrots can grow well, but in actual sowing it is more appropriate to ensure that the soil moisture content is 60-70%.

3. Fertilization: Carrots require a large amount of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, a moderate amount of calcium, silicon, and trace amounts of boron, zinc, molybdenum and other elements to grow. In addition, scientific fertilization is required during the growth process to achieve a good harvest.

Carrot growing season management

During the growing season of carrots, it is necessary to strengthen the management of diseases and pests. Black leaf blight and black rot often endanger the health of carrots. Black leaf blight is mostly induced by drought, and can be prevented and treated with 800 times diluted 70% methyl thiophanate wettable powder. Black rot is mostly caused by high temperature and heavy rain, so the affected plants should be removed in time and the soil should be disinfected with quicklime.
