Cultivation methods and precautions of Melaleuca alternifolia

Cultivation methods and precautions of Melaleuca alternifolia

Callistemon is easy to grow. It is also called the bottle brush tree because it really looks like a bottle brush when it blooms. Its flowers are bright red and hang in bunches on the branches. Looking around, the tree is full of red flowers that look like flames. It is very beautiful and has a relatively high ornamental value.

The cultivation method of red melaleuca

1. Temperature

Callistemon loves light and is resistant to high temperatures. The most suitable temperature for its growth is around 25 degrees. Although it can withstand temperatures as low as minus 5 degrees, it is best to move it indoors for maintenance in the northern winter to prevent the leaves from being frostbitten outdoors.

2. Lighting

Melaleuca is a sun-loving tree species and loves light very much. Therefore, in daily maintenance, it is necessary to ensure that it receives at least five hours of light a day. This can ensure that the Melaleuca grows vigorously and has luxuriant branches and leaves.

3. Watering

When cultivating Melaleuca alternifolia, it is important to ensure that the soil is moist and avoid overwatering, which will cause water accumulation at the bottom and cause rot. In the hot summer, you can spray water on the branches and leaves appropriately to ensure that the branches and leaves of the plant are moist and reduce water evaporation.

Matters Needing Attention in the Maintenance of Melaleuca Alternata

When caring for Callistemon, you should pay attention to the fact that Callistemon likes fertile, moist, acidic soil, but it is not very demanding on water. It only needs to be watered 1-2 times a day and the branches and leaves of the plant kept moist. However, Callistemon has a higher demand for nutrients during the growing season. Usually, nitrogen fertilizer should be applied once a month and organic fertilizer once a month to ensure better growth of Callistemon.
