Phlox cultivation methods and precautions

Phlox cultivation methods and precautions

1. Soil

Phlox is suitable for growing in fertile and loose soil.

2. Lighting

Phlox likes plenty of sunlight, a warm and humid environment. It can also grow in slightly lower temperatures, such as around 10 degrees Celsius, but the growth is slower. In the hot summer, it needs shade.

3. Temperature

The suitable growth temperature for Phlox is around 20 degrees Celsius. It is not resistant to high temperatures. When the ambient temperature exceeds 30 degrees Celsius, the leaves will turn yellow. At this time, it needs to be given appropriate shade. It can also survive the winter at low temperatures.

4. Watering

Water the phlox once every 2-3 days and always keep the soil moist. Do not water too frequently. If the plant is too waterlogged, drain the water in time to prevent root rot.

5. Fertilization

When fertilizing Phlox, you should apply fertilizer according to its different growth stages. For example, after the seedlings are transplanted, fertilize them about 20 to 30 days later. Soil fertilizers from pigs, cattle, sheep, etc. are best, but compound fertilizers are also acceptable. Apply fertilizer according to actual conditions in the future.

6. Notes

1. Generally, pruning is done in spring when the phlox just sprouts. Good pruning is conducive to vigorous plant growth. Pinch off the top when the Phlox grows to about 20 cm to prevent it from growing too tall.

2. Try not to transplant Phlox, as it is very delicate. If transplanted, it will be difficult to regenerate, and may even stop growing and die. Even if you want to transplant it, you should wait until it is about 20 cm long before transplanting it so that it will survive more easily.
