Taboos on fertilizing honeysuckle

Taboos on fertilizing honeysuckle

1. No root application

Plants that have not grown roots just after being grafted cannot be fertilized. Even if fertilizer is applied, it will not be absorbed and will burn the plants, making the cuttings unable to survive. You can wait until the roots grow in the later stage and then apply a small amount of fertilizer to promote growth.

2. Summer fertilization

During the maintenance period, please note that fertilizer should not be applied in summer. The temperature is too high and the growth rate of the plants will slow down. They cannot absorb the nutrients brought by the fertilizer well. Continuing to fertilize will cause fertilizer damage, resulting in the plants being unable to safely survive the high temperature season.

3. Apply concentrated fertilizer

Every time you fertilize it, you must pay attention to the concentration of the fertilizer. Do not use high concentrations, which can easily burn the roots, causing the plant to wither or even die. Fertilizer should be diluted with clean water before application so that it can be better absorbed and is beneficial to growth.

4. Do not water after fertilizing

After fertilizing, you should also pay attention to watering once in a timely manner, which can promote better penetration and absorption of the fertilizer solution. If you don’t water it, it’s easy for compost to form and it won’t penetrate to the bottom, which will be detrimental to healthy growth.
