When to take cuttings of hydrangea

When to take cuttings of hydrangea

1. Cutting time

The time of cutting affects the chance of survival. There are not many restrictions on the time. It can usually be carried out after germination in February. If you want the cuttings to take root as soon as possible, the best time is early summer, around May to June. The temperature is relatively high at this time and can be maintained at around 20 degrees, which is very beneficial for rooting. The south is in the rainy season and the humidity content in the air is relatively high. The rooting time will not be too long, and roots will grow in about 15 days.

2. Cutting method

1. Branches: The growth of the mother plant must be guaranteed, preferably in good growth condition. Cut off the strong branches, and then start from the nodes, cut off most of the leaves. This can reduce water evaporation and leave branches and buds.

2. Soil: The soil for cuttings can be finer peat soil. It should be sterilized before use and sprayed with water to keep it moist.

3. Cutting: Use a small wooden stick to poke a few holes on it, then insert the processed branches into it, and slowly compact the soil so that the bottom is fully combined with the soil.

4. Maintenance: Pay attention to the later maintenance, expose it to scattered light environment, avoid maintenance under direct light, and maintain a certain humidity.
