1. Grafting method1. Processing the rootstock: Select a relatively strong cactus, use a sterilized blade to cut off a one-centimeter length horizontally from the top, and then cut it at the boundary between the epidermis and the inner pulp. Be careful not to make it too wide, just slightly larger than the Christmas cactus to be grafted. 2. Processing the scion: Similarly, select robust Christmas cactus leaves, break off the tender buds at the top, and cut the bottom into a duck's beak shape with a thickness of about three centimeters. Be sure to cut it in one go. 3. Insert the rootstock: After cutting the scion, insert it into the cut of the cactus with the pith aligned. Then secure it with a sterilized toothpick. In addition, the outermost layer can be wrapped with cardboard and then clamped with clips to make it more secure. 2. Maintenance methods after graftingAfter completing the grafting, you must also pay attention to the maintenance method. Only with the correct method can the plant survive. The grafted cactus should be placed in a cool place. Do not expose it to the sun or water it in a hurry, otherwise the wound will easily get wet and cause rot. The toothpick can be removed in about half a month. Be careful to rotate it out before you can tell whether the grafting is successful. |
