What to do after lily potted plants bloom

What to do after lily potted plants bloom

1. Cut off the remaining flowers

After the flowers wither, the remaining flowers need to be removed and not left on the plant. The stems need to be cut off, leaving only about 20-30 cm above the ground. If the soil in the pot is very moist and the leaves below have fallen off, the part above the ground should be left longer and a few leaves should be left.

2. Apply fertilizer

In order to ensure flowering next year, nutrients still need to be supplemented. Apply fertilizer regularly, once every 1-2 weeks. Pay attention to the concentration and never use raw fertilizer or concentrated fertilizer, otherwise the bulbs in the flowerpots will rot. You can buy different types of fertilizers specifically and mix them to suit your needs. You can also use water from washing rice and water the plants after it has fermented.

3. Control watering

After flowering, the demand for water is significantly reduced, so the amount of watering must be controlled. After observing that the soil in the pot is completely dry, water it appropriately. When the cold winter comes, the remaining parts on the ground will turn yellow and you need to stop watering.

4. Surrounding Environment

Place the flowerpot with the bulb in a dark place, make sure there is no direct sunlight, keep the surrounding environment cool, and ensure good ventilation. You can dig it out and replant it in the second year.
