Garlic sprouts are vegetables that many people like to eat. Everyone is familiar with them. They are warm in nature and very nutritious. Many people grow them at home. So what are the methods of planting garlic sprouts? Let’s learn more about it below. What are the methods for planting garlic sprouts? 1. Soil culture Choose a slightly larger but not very deep flowerpot, a foam box will also work, and fill the pot with 70% soil. When preparing the potting soil, just make sure it is loose, breathable and nutritious. Adding dry sheep manure as base fertilizer at the bottom of the flowerpot can ensure that the garlic sprouts will not lack nutrition in the later stage. Break the garlic apart and arrange the cloves neatly with the buds facing upwards, keeping a distance of 5-10 cm between them. 2. Hydroponics The maintenance method of hydroponic garlic is simpler. Find a flower pot or plate with a shallow edge and a large mouth, place the garlic in the container, and add water directly. Don't add too much water, just enough to cover the bottom of the garlic. This will be more conducive to the rooting of the garlic. There is no need to change the water before the garlic takes root. If the water is less, just add water. Generally speaking, roots and sprouts will take shape within five days. How to plant garlic sprouts 1. Choose garlic seeds The requirements for garlic seeds in garlic seedling cultivation are not strict. Generally, other garlic varieties are selected, such as extra small garlic cloves, purple-skinned garlic, white-skinned garlic, or single-headed garlic. 2. Land preparation and fertilization Garlic sprouts do not have high requirements for soil and can be planted in all kinds of soil. The nutrients needed for the growth of garlic sprouts are mainly mother petals. Because the growth period of garlic sprouts is long in open field cultivation, in order to ensure the product is fresh, tender and delicious, you can use farmyard manure as base fertilizer. Before sowing, about 3,000 to 4,000 kilograms of decomposed farmyard manure can be applied per acre of land. 3. Planting seeds When sowing garlic seedlings, first dig a 3 cm deep and 13 cm wide furrow in the bed, with a furrow spacing of 35 cm. Plant two rows in each furrow with a plant spacing of 4 to 5 cm; or plant a single row with a row spacing of about 18 cm and a plant spacing of 4 to 5 cm. When sowing, plant with the skin on and according to the size of the mother petals to ensure that the garlic seedlings emerge evenly and are easy to manage, which is conducive to harvesting and marketing in batches. 4. Field management When cultivating garlic seedlings in the open field, it is recommended to water them lightly several times from sowing to germination. This can lower the ground temperature and keep it moist. On the other hand, it can promote the rooting of garlic seedlings and advance their emergence. After the garlic sprouts emerge, apply a layer of diluted manure or ammonium sulfate along the water to promote the growth of the seedlings. Before harvesting, you should apply quick-acting nitrogen fertilizer once to improve the quality and yield of garlic sprouts. That’s it |
