How does asparagus fern survive the winter? Will it freeze to death?

How does asparagus fern survive the winter? Will it freeze to death?

1. Wintering Methods

1. Bring it indoors: Asparagus fern is not a cold-resistant plant. The temperature is lower in winter, so it needs to be moved indoors as soon as possible for maintenance. Place it in a slightly warm room, preferably with the room temperature adjusted to above 15°C.

2. Sunlight: In winter, asparagus fern can get plenty of sunlight. It should be placed in a sunny location, such as a balcony or windowsill at home. Letting it get as much sunlight as possible can also prevent it from freezing. If you keep it in a dimly lit place in the living room, you need to move it to a sunny place regularly.

3. Ventilation: Some areas rely on fire for heating. If asparagus fern grows in such an environment, it is necessary to open windows frequently for ventilation to keep the environment fresh. Also, when the weather is fine, you need to open doors and windows more often for ventilation.

4. Watering: Water evaporates very slowly in winter, so you must pay attention to control watering, otherwise the roots will rot. It likes a humid environment, but it should be watered less during the winter. It can be watered once every half a month or so depending on the situation. If the maintenance environment is relatively warm, watering can be a little more frequent.

2. Will I freeze to death?

During the winter, asparagus fern will generally not be frozen to death as long as you pay attention to timely protection or move it indoors for maintenance. But if you still leave it outdoors in winter and expose it to sub-zero temperatures, the chances of it freezing to death are very high.
