Tulip planting season, how many days does it take for tulips to bloom from sowing

1. Planting Season

The tulip planting season is in autumn. As a bulbous plant, it needs a low temperature period to undergo vernalization. If the temperature remains high, the development of the plant will be affected. After sowing in autumn, winter can just meet this condition. If sown in spring, plant growth stops once summer arrives, usually before flowering.

2. How many days does it take to bloom?

Tulips are bulbous plants, so most of the seeds sown are bulbs. Generally, the bulbs will only bloom when their diameter is more than 5 cm. It takes 45-60 days from planting to flowering. It should be noted that if you start sowing from seeds, it often takes 4 years to grow to a size that can bloom.

3. How to promote flowering

1. Adequate light: Tulips are long-day plants, so only sufficient light can allow their flower buds to differentiate. If the environment is too dark, the plant will not only not bloom, but it may also grow too tall, causing the plant to be loose and unsightly. Usually put it in a sunny place so that it can receive light throughout the day.

2. Appropriate fertilization: Tulips need to consume nutrients to bloom, and appropriate fertilization can also promote the flowering of the plants. Generally, do not use nitrogen fertilizer for fertilization. Although it helps the growth of branches and leaves, it will inhibit flowering. Phosphorus and potassium fertilizers are usually used, which can promote flowering.

3. Control the temperature: Tulips have extremely high requirements for temperature. High or low temperatures will slow down their growth and affect the flowering of the plants. Usually the temperature should be controlled between 15-18℃. If it exceeds 35℃, the differentiation of flower buds will be inhibited. At this time, it is necessary to cool down appropriately. You can spray it with water and maintain good ventilation.
