How to care for newly bought stone lotus

How to care for newly bought stone lotus

1. How to deal with newly bought stone lotus

If you buy bare-root Echeveria online, you must first remove the dead leaves of the succulent, trim the shriveled fibrous roots appropriately, place it in a cool and ventilated place to dry for 2 days, then prepare moist soil and plant it in the flowerpot, and then water it and expose it to the sun after a week. If you buy succulent plants with pots at the flower market, you can directly maintain them normally.

2. How to care for newly bought stone lotus

1. More light: Stone lotus likes light and has a strong phototropism, so it needs more sunlight when caring for it at home. With sufficient light, the stone lotus will grow compactly, the leaves will turn blue, and the powder on the leaf surface will become thicker, but it still needs to be shaded from the strong sun in summer.

2. Large temperature difference: If you want the stone lotus to be in good condition and color quickly, in addition to letting the succulent plant get more sunlight, you also need to give the stone lotus a large temperature difference. For example, if the daytime temperature is 25-32℃ and the nighttime temperature is 10-15℃, the stone lotus will definitely grow rapidly and fill the pot.

3. Water less: Echeveria does not have a high demand for water. During the spring and autumn growing seasons, you should adhere to the principle of watering "water thoroughly when the soil is dry". Water thoroughly when the soil is almost dry. In summer, when the temperature is high, and in winter, when the temperature is low, you should reduce the amount of watering or even stop watering.

4. Prevent black rot: Echeveria is not resistant to high temperatures and is most susceptible to black rot in summer. Black rot often occurs at the base of the stem and is caused by excessive watering. Therefore, when the temperature is high in summer, the soil should be kept dry and ventilated frequently to avoid black rot.

5. Note: Echeveria, to be more precise, refers to the succulent plants of the genus Echeveria, including Jade Butterfly, Black Prince, White Peony, Blue Echeveria, etc. However, the stone lotus some people refer to is just the Jade Butterfly of the genus Echeveria, so the above introduction is about the maintenance techniques of the Jade Butterfly.
