Cultivation method of cold orchid

Cultivation method of cold orchid

1. Lighting

Cymbidium likes a cool environment and is afraid of direct sunlight. It must be placed in a dark place during maintenance, especially in the strong light of summer, as the leaves can easily be sunburned. It is usually recommended to place it in a dimly lit place indoors, and occasionally expose it to weak light, so that the plant can accumulate more nutrients and grow better.

2. Watering

It likes a humid environment, and the soil in the pot should be moist but not wet. During the maintenance period, watering should be determined according to the season. Generally, water should be applied once every 10 days in spring and autumn, and once every 5 days in summer. In winter, water should be controlled. It is okay not to water for a month to avoid frost damage caused by excessive watering. In addition, if the environment is relatively dry, you must spray water more often to maintain a certain humidity, which is more conducive to growth.

3. Temperature

The suitable temperature for its growth is between 18 and 28 degrees. It should not be too high or too low, otherwise it will hinder its growth. In the high temperature environment in summer, be sure to ventilate more and spray water frequently to prevent the leaves from curling. In winter, the plant should be moved indoors to cool down, and the lowest temperature should be kept above 10 degrees, otherwise it will stop growing, and if it is too low, it will cause frost damage.

4. Fertilization

During the management period, thin fertilizers should be applied frequently for supplementary fertilization, especially for vigorously growing orchids. It is best to supplement fertilizer every half a month. It is enough to apply thin liquid fertilizer. High fertilizer concentrations cannot be absorbed, which can easily burn the roots and cause fertilizer damage.
