How to grow and propagate snow mow grass

How to grow and propagate snow mow grass

1. How to raise

1. Soil preparation: Snow mowed grass should generally be grown in well-drained soil, which also has a certain moisturizing effect. Usually, potting soil is prepared with one part each of sunlight sand and Kanuma soil, and one-quarter of pumice is added. It is mixed thoroughly and the fine dust is sieved out. This substrate will turn white when dry, making it easier to control watering time.

2. Appropriate lighting: Snow mowing has different lighting requirements in different seasons. For example, more sunlight is needed in spring to promote the differentiation of flower buds, but attention should be paid to shade at noon to avoid sunburn. In summer and autumn, it needs to be moved to a shady place to avoid continued exposure to sunlight. In winter, place it in a bright place to help increase the ambient temperature.

3. Reasonable watering: Snow mowed grass needs sufficient water to grow, and it needs to be watered in time after the topsoil dries. It should be noted that when watering during the flowering period, do not water the flowers, but must water the base. In summer, when the temperature is high, watering at noon can easily cause the ground temperature to drop, so it is generally necessary to water in the evening.

4. Fertilize regularly: When planting snow mowed grass in pots, you must first apply enough base fertilizer. The base fertilizer is generally a slow-release fertilizer, which can continuously provide nutrients. After planting, you can apply appropriate topdressing, generally solid fertilizer, twice in spring and autumn. Nitrogen fertilizer should be added when leaves are growing, and high-phosphorus fertilizer should be applied during the flower bud formation period.

2. How to breed

Snow grass is generally propagated by sowing or division. The sowing time is mostly in spring, and it usually takes a year to take root. After taking root, it will sprout and grow cotyledons. After two years, it will grow true leaves and buds, and it will bloom in the third year. Division is usually carried out in May. After removing the plant from the pot, the sub-plants can be separated and planted. It is relatively simple and convenient.
