What to do if the leaves of cat's eye arrowroot turn yellow

Causes and treatments for yellowing leaves of cat's eye arrowroot

Improper lighting

Cat's eye arrowroot likes shade. Too strong light may cause burns on the leaves of the plant, yellow spots may appear on the surface of the leaves, and the leaves of the cat's eye arrowroot may wither and turn yellow. In this case, the cat's eye arrowroot should be moved to a cool place indoors.

If there is too little light, the leaves cannot get enough light and chlorophyll cannot be formed, causing the leaves to turn yellow and fall off. At this time, appropriate sunlight is needed.

Improper watering

The leaves of cat's eye arrowroot are large and water evaporates quickly. If the old leaves begin to turn yellow and fall off, and the leaf tips and edges become dry and bent, it means that the cat's eye arrowroot is not watered enough. Water and spray more often to keep the soil in the pot and the surrounding air moist.

When the young leaves of the cat's eye calathea become dull and lifeless, and the branches and new shoots become shrunken, small, and yellow-green, it is most likely caused by overwatering. At this time, place the cat's eye arrowroot in a ventilated place, dry the soil, reduce the frequency of watering, and water less but keep it moist.

Improper fertilization

During the cultivation of cat's eye arrowroot, if the tips of the new leaves of the cat's eye arrowroot appear yellow-brown and the old leaves turn yellow and fall off, it is because the high concentration of fertilizer has caused the plant to turn yellow. Fertilizing should be stopped immediately. If the situation is serious, the potting soil should be replaced and the fertilizer remaining on the roots and leaves of the cat's eye calathea should be cleaned.

If you apply very little or no fertilizer on a regular basis, yellowing leaves may be due to a lack of nutrients. You should change the pot in time and apply thin amounts of fertilizer frequently.
