Causes and treatments of yellow leaves of Viola yedoensis

Causes and treatments of yellow leaves of Viola yedoensis

1. Insufficient light

Reason: Viola yedoensis likes light. If there is insufficient light or it is grown in a dark place for a long time, the leaves will lack photosynthesis and turn yellow.

Solution: If the yellow leaves are caused by lack of light, move it to a sunny place and ensure it gets sufficient light every day.

2. Insufficient watering

Reason: Viola yedoensis likes a humid environment. If you water too little or do not water thoroughly for a long time, the plant will turn yellow due to lack of water.

Solution: When watering is insufficient or the soil becomes dry, water should be added promptly. You can also use a sprinkler to spray around the Tradescantia potted plant to replenish moisture and increase air humidity.

3. Too little fertilization

Reason: Viola yedoensis has a high demand for nutrients during the growing period. If too little fertilizer is applied, the plant will lack nutrients and its leaves will turn yellow.

Solution: When fertilizer is insufficient, add fertilizer in time. During the growing season, the frequency of fertilization needs to be maintained at once every 7-10 days.

4. Pests and diseases

Reason: Viola yedoensis is prone to insect diseases. It is easy for spider mites to attack the leaves. If not treated in time, the leaves will slowly turn yellow and then wither.

Treatment: If the leaves are invaded by red spider mites, you can use lime sulfur mixture to spray and kill the red spider mites, and then place it in a ventilated and well-lit place to allow the plant to recover slowly.
