Causes and treatments of yellow leaves of dragon beard orchid

Causes and treatments of yellow leaves of dragon beard orchid

1. Proper watering

1. Reason: If you water the dragon beard orchid too much, the accumulated water in the soil will affect the breathing of the roots, causing them to rot, which will cause the leaves to turn yellow.

2. Solution: Drain the accumulated water in the soil as soon as possible. Carefully remove the plant from the soil and cut off any rotten roots with scissors. Afterwards, you can apply a little wood ash on the wound and replant it with dry new soil. Pay attention to controlling the amount of water during daily watering. Do not water too much to avoid water accumulation. If it is caused by insufficient nutrients, fertilizer should be applied in time.

2. Increase Lighting

1. Reason: Dragon Beard Orchid is not suitable for growing in a dark environment. If it does not see sunlight for a long time, it will affect its growth and cause the leaves to turn yellow.

2.Solution: Place the dragon beard orchid in a sunny place. But you cannot expose it directly to the sun, as this will cause the leaves to lose water due to high temperature, which is not conducive to its growth.

3. Appropriate fertilization

1. Reason: The growth of dragon beard orchid cannot be separated from various nutrients. If the soil fertility is insufficient and fertilizer is not applied in time, its leaves will turn yellow.

2. Solution: It is best to mix slow-release fertilizers such as oil cake and bone meal into the potting soil as base fertilizer before planting the dragon beard orchid. Apply thin liquid fertilizer once every 10-15 days during the growing season. It is not advisable to apply nitrogen fertilizer alone, and phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should be added appropriately.
