How to grow Money Plant so that it will bloom out of the pot?

Money coin, also known as money sedum , is a very peculiar succulent plant . It looks like a string of ancient copper coins and has a high ornamental value. Many people like to grow this plant. So how to grow money coin so that it will bloom out of the pot? Let’s take a look below.

1. Pot soil selection

The potting soil should be loose and fertile, with good drainage and air permeability, and the pH should be slightly acidic. Nutrient soil can be prepared by mixing garden soil, peat soil and coarse sand, with the ratio of the three being 4:3:3.

2. Temperature and light

Money tree likes light, so creating an environment with plenty of sunlight is beneficial to its growth. However, money tree cannot be exposed to direct sunlight. Except for appropriate shade in the summer, it can accept full-day sunlight in other seasons. Similarly, money tree also likes warmth, and the best growth temperature is 20-32℃.

3. Watering tips

Money tree can tolerate drought but is afraid of waterlogging, so daily watering only requires the soil in the pot to be kept slightly moist. Usually water the plants once a week in spring and autumn; in summer, when the temperature is high and water evaporates quickly, you can increase watering to twice a week; in winter, when the temperature is low, you can extend watering to once a month.

4. Reasonable fertilization

The growth of the bunch requires sufficient nutrient supply, and the demand is even greater during the growth period. It needs to be fertilized once every half a month, and general thin liquid fertilizer will be sufficient. Note that when the temperature is above 10℃, you can apply fertilizer once every half a month or so. If the temperature is below 10℃, you should not apply fertilizer.

5. Plastic surgery

During the growth process, the money tree should be pruned frequently to cut off the excess branches on the plant and maintain the beautiful shape of the plant. Don't throw away the branches after cutting. You can let the cut branches dry for about half an hour, then remove the leaves at the bottom to expose a section of the stem, which can be used directly for cuttings.

6. Cutting propagation

The operation is very simple, it is nothing more than pruning the branches, drying them, inserting them into moist soil, and placing them in diffused light. It is best to choose a medium with good air permeability, and then water it thoroughly in advance. When the soil is moist but not wet, you can carry out cuttings. After cuttings, just place the money tree in a place with scattered light, and it will take root in about 1-2 weeks.

In general, although the money tree is a relatively niche succulent plant, it is hardy and easy to grow, has strong reproductive ability, is beautiful, and tends to overflow the pot. As long as you pay attention to some maintenance techniques, basically even novices can take good care of it.
