What to do if white spots appear on the leaves of Milan

What to do if white spots appear on the leaves of Milan

1. Cut off diseased leaves

The white spots on Milan leaves are caused by pathogens, which produce spores to spread the infection. Therefore, diseased branches and leaves should be cut off as soon as possible, and it is best to burn them. Avoid the residual bacteria that may lead to secondary recurrence.

2. Ventilation and dehumidification

The main cause of algal spot is poor ventilation. Milan is most likely to get sick when grown indoors, so air circulation should be increased. The first step is to change the growing environment, place it on the balcony or windowsill, and avoid being too close to other plants. The second step is to trim the dense branches and leaves to ensure good ventilation inside. At the same time, moisture is also the key to the parasitism of pathogens. It is necessary to loosen the soil appropriately or place desiccant in the room to reduce the humidity.

3. Drug prevention and treatment

In the early stages of white spots, Bordeaux mixture or lime sulfur can be used for prevention and control. Drug spraying has certain limitations. Generally, it can only be sprayed on visible white spots, but some of the tiny pathogens that are spread cannot be seen. If the condition is serious, it will only treat the symptoms and not the root cause, and it will relapse.

4. Water and fertilizer control

When watering, be careful not to let the soil become too moist, as this will cause the growth of pathogens. At the same time, fertilization should also be balanced. Organic fertilizer can effectively improve the disease resistance of the plant. Don't apply phosphorus fertilizer too much, just focus on its flowering and ignore its health.
