What to do if the stems of lucky bamboo wither

What to do if the stems of lucky bamboo wither

Causes of stem wilt

Temperature is too low

The genus Fugui cannot tolerate low temperatures, and it can only survive the winter safely if the room temperature is between 6 and 8 degrees Celsius. If the indoor temperature is low or it is exposed to cold outdoors, the stems will gradually wilt, and sometimes the entire plant will wither and die.

Plants lack nutrients

If fertilizer is not applied regularly, the plant lacks nutrition, or if the water of hydroponic lucky bamboo is not changed or added regularly, and it is placed in a shaded environment for a long time, the stems will wither and die.

Inappropriate breeding time

Most of the lucky bamboos on the market have no roots. It takes about a month for them to grow roots and leaves. If you buy lucky bamboo and plant it in winter, the stems will rot.

Wilt rescue measures

Remove diseased plants

If you find that the stems of lucky bamboo are withering, pull them out immediately, fill the soil in time, or replace them with plants that have not dried up. If the wilting is not very serious, you can pull out the slightly wilted plants, cultivate them separately, increase water, and then cultivate them together after they recover.

Drug prevention

In the early stage of the disease, you can spray with 1:100 Bordeaux mixture or 1000 times diluted 53.8% chlorpyrifos dry suspension.

Strengthen management

Place the lucky bamboo in a lighted room and keep the minimum room temperature at 6~8℃. If the indoor temperature is low, you can cover the plant with 1 to 2 layers of plastic bags, especially at night, away from glass windows.

Pay attention to adding water to prevent dryness. Change the water of hydroponic lucky bamboo every 7 to 10 days. The water temperature should be equivalent to room temperature. Stop fertilizing during the winter. Water the lucky bamboo grown in soil once every 10 to 15 days to keep the soil moist.
