Why are the leaves of Kalanchoe becoming soft?

Reasons why the leaves of Kalanchoe become soft

Reason 1: Root rot

If the leaves of Kalanchoe become soft, it may be that the roots are rotten. Basically, Kalanchoe needs to be re-cut every two years. If it is not re-cut for a long time, the roots of the Kalanchoe will rot. Of course, it is also possible that root rot is caused by improper watering or other operations during the maintenance process. Once the roots rot, the leaves will lose their luster and become soft.

Reason 2: Dormant period

In the midsummer season, the Kalanchoe plant will be in a dormant state due to the hot weather, but the plant will not completely stop growing. At this time, it is best to keep it in a cool place and avoid exposing it to the sun. Once exposed to the sun for a long time, the leaves of the Kalanchoe will become soft due to strong light and water loss.

Reason 3: Lack of water

Because when planting Kalanchoe, you need to choose soil and flower pots with good drainage, most potting soils are very permeable, which will cause water loss, resulting in plant lack of water, which will make the leaves of Kalanchoe soft.

Prevention and treatment of soft leaves of Kalanchoe

Once we find out the reason why the leaves of Kalanchoe become soft, we can find ways to prevent and control it.

Based on the reasons, we must first meet the demand for light. In addition to appropriate shading in the summer, sufficient light must be given at other times to ensure the growth environment's need for sunlight.

During the dormant period of Kalanchoe, the light exposure needs to be reduced. Only 2 hours of light a day is needed. The rest of the time, it can be placed in a warm and cool place. Bright scattered light will be better.

In addition, watering should be done alternately between dry and wet, and do not water too much or too little. While ensuring sufficient water, also pay attention to waterlogging prevention.

If the leaves become soft, you need to find the right reason so that you can solve it well.
