Dragon fruit planting technology

1. Seed collection

Put the ripe and healthy pitaya fruit into the prepared gauze, rub it under running water, rub it with your hands, and after washing away the pulp, the seeds will be separated out. These seeds can be used for planting.

2. Sowing

You can prepare the planting soil yourself. You can use peat and perlite, mixed in a ratio of three to one or four to one. Choose a container of suitable size with a drainage hole at the bottom, fill the bottom of the container with coarse gravel or expanded clay, cover the top with planting soil, add a little base fertilizer, and then fill it with planting soil. Use a watering can to wet the soil surface and spread the seeds evenly. There is no need to cover it with soil. Just cover the mouth of the flowerpot with a plastic film. It will germinate in about three to five days at room temperature above 20 degrees.

3. Put it in the basin

After the seeds germinate, purple leaves can be seen. We can remove the plastic wrap, let them gradually see the light, and let the seedlings grow normally. When the seedlings can grow small triangular branches from the center with small hairs on the edges, we can transplant them at this time.

Generally, you need to change the pot two or three times from sowing to transplanting. At the beginning, the pot should be smaller, and three to five plants should be planted in each pot. Let it grow. When the stem of the pitaya can reach 20 to 30 centimeters, we recommend using a pot with a diameter of 20 centimeters and planting one plant. The soil used for planting does not need to be too particular, but it must be loose, fertile and well-drained. It takes about two to three years from planting to flowering and fruiting.
