Cultivation method of crabapple bonsai

Watering

Begonias prefer moist soil. The soil in the pot should not be too dry during the growing season in spring and summer. It should maintain sufficient moisture during the flowering period. The soil in the pot should be relatively dry in winter. Be careful about waterlogging and rain on the soil in the pot, as this will easily cause root rot. In the hot summer weather, spray some water on the leaves to increase the humidity of the air, which is beneficial to the growth of crabapple flowers. Normally, spray the leaves and surrounding areas with clean water every week to increase humidity and clean the leaves.

Fertilization

During the growing period, the crabapple bonsai should be fertilized with diluted cake fertilizer water once every 10 days, but do not fertilize during the rainy season. During the young bud stage, quick-acting phosphorus fertilizer should be applied, but be careful to sprinkle the fertilizer onto the leaves to help the flowers form buds. It is best not to apply fertilizer during the flowering period. In winter, you can apply sufficient base fertilizer, such as dry cake fertilizer, decomposed manure and bone meal.

Light and temperature

The most suitable temperature for the growth and stability of Begonia bonsai is 10-20℃. It prefers an environment with good ventilation and scattered light. In hot summer weather, pay attention to shading and ventilation of the plants, and spray water on the leaves to cool them down. In winter, it should be placed in a sunny place indoors and the indoor temperature should not be lower than 10℃. During the growing season, place it outdoors under diffuse light 1-2 times a week.

Pest and disease prevention

Begonia is susceptible to red star disease, leaf spot disease, sooty mold disease, etc., and the corresponding medicine can be sprayed according to the specific situation. It is also susceptible to pests such as aphids, scale insects, and longhorn beetles, which can be killed by spraying with DDT and dichlorvos.
