How to take care of the newly bought Guangdong Dieffenbachia

1. Soil

If the soil in the pot is too hard and becomes compacted, you need to change the soil. Be sure not to use alkaline soil. For home potted plants, we usually use planting soil made of leaf mold and sand. The soil contains sufficient humus and has excellent drainage and air permeability.

2. Environment

Guangdong evergreen likes warm environment and is not cold-resistant. It is best to grow it indoors after buying it. Keep the room temperature above 18℃, and it should not be lower than 5℃ during the winter. Do not place it in places such as balconies where it can receive direct sunlight. It will also have no effect if you place it in a dark place. Too strong light will cause the leaves to burn and even turn yellow.

3. Watering

It doesn't need a lot of water, but it's best to keep the soil moist during the summer. Except in summer, there is no need to water it too frequently. It has fleshy roots and is most afraid of waterlogging in the soil. It is best to spray some water around it or on the leaves frequently to maintain the surrounding air humidity and prevent the problem of leaf tips drying out.

4. Fertilization

It needs to be fertilized according to the season. No fertilizer is needed in summer, and decomposed fertilizer can be used once a month in spring and autumn. You can also use thin liquid fertilizer once every half a month or so during the growing season to promote its growth and development. Of course, it is best to add some organic fertilizer as base fertilizer when repotting to improve fertility.

5. Pruning and tidying up

Timely trimming of the yellow leaves, broken leaves and old leaves at the bottom can improve its ornamental value and reduce the occurrence of diseases. You can wipe the leaves with beer to make them brighter. Be sure to use a soft cloth.
