From a morphological point of view, the phoenix jade is native to the mountainous areas of northern and central Mexico. The plant is solitary and spherical in the early stage. The old plant is slender and columnar. The sphere has obvious ridges, most of which have 5 ridges. There are brown cotton wool on the ridges and no thorns. The ball is grayish white and covered with white star-shaped hairs or small scales. The flowers are funnel-shaped, yellow in color, and some have red hearts inside. Among them, the three-sided "triangular phoenix jade" is a rare variety, and the four-sided "quadrangular phoenix jade" is also called square jade.
