1. Plant introduction1. Morphological characteristics: Buddha's hand is a shrub or small tree with irregular branches. Its newly grown branches and buds are purple-red, and there are many thorns on the stems, which are about 4 cm long. Its leaves are simple, with short petioles and are generally oval in shape. Its flowers are racemes, each flower has 5 petals. The fruit is finger-shaped, with yellow skin and transparent edible flesh. 2. Growth habits: Buddha's hand likes warm and humid climate and an environment with sufficient light. It is not resistant to severe cold and is afraid of drought, but it is relatively resistant to barrenness and waterlogging. When the temperature is between 22-24℃, the plant grows faster. It cannot be lower than 5℃ in winter, otherwise the plant will be frostbitten. It is usually planted in deep, loose, fertile acidic soil. 3. Maintenance method: To cultivate bergamot, you need to prepare nutrient soil. Mix humus soil, river sand and peat soil in a ratio of 6:3:1 as the matrix. It has good drainage and can provide an acidic growth environment. Water the plant frequently during daily maintenance, and spray it appropriately if the climate is dry. Organic fertilizer needs to be applied during the plant's bud formation period, before flowering and after flowering, which is conducive to the plant's fruit setting. 4. Breeding techniques: There are two methods for breeding Buddha’s hand. One is the cutting method and the other is the grafting method. For cuttings, choose a healthy plant that is 7-8 years old, cut a vigorously growing branch about 20 cm long, cut off its leaves and top tender shoots, insert it into the sandy soil, water it appropriately and wait for it to take root. Grafting is usually carried out in August and September. Choose a 4-5 year old healthy plant as the rootstock, cut off the extra branches and keep only one, and shave off some of the bark where the branches were cut. Use the branches grown last year as scions and insert them into the shaved bark. Tie them up after they fit together. 2. Pictures |
