How to propagate bayberry by cuttings? Is the survival rate of cuttings high?

1. How to take cuttings

1. Time selection: Bayberry can be propagated by cuttings, and the time for cuttings must be chosen carefully. It can be done in April in spring or in July in summer. Both times can be done, but the corresponding branches selected are different. In spring, you can choose semi-lignified branches for cuttings, and in summer you can choose sturdy fruiting branches.

2. Cut branches: Select branches before cuttings. Cut small branches from the bayberry tree, about 14 cm in length. Flatten the base of the branch, keep 3 leaves on it, remove the leaves below, then prepare the naphthaleneacetic acid auxin solution, insert the base of the branch into it and soak it for about 12 hours, which can improve the survival rate.

3. Prepare the soil: Prepare slightly acidic soil with good air permeability. Disinfect the soil before cutting and maintain a certain humidity, which will help the cutting to be successful.

4. Carry out cuttings: After the preparation work, you can carry out cuttings. Insert the processed cuttings into the soil, maintain a certain depth, and manage them well in the later stage.

2. Is the survival rate high?

Although the method of bayberry cuttings is very simple, the cutting rate is not high and cannot be guaranteed. However, after artificial treatment and drug soaking, and paying attention to good methods, cuttings can still be successful.
