Margarite flower cultivation methods and precautions

Margarite flower cultivation methods and precautions

Soil requirements

Margaret likes loose, fertile, well-drained soil. Soil: 5 parts black mountain soil, 5 parts peat soil. If you don’t have black mountain soil, you can use garden soil instead.

Cutting method

Marguerite does not seem to produce seeds, and its reproduction mainly relies on cuttings.

Generally, cuttings are taken in a covered seedling box, and the soil used for cuttings is peat soil plus vermiculite, or peat soil plus perlite. The best season for cuttings is spring and autumn, but cuttings are also easy to succeed in the other two seasons. The cuttings are kept on the terrace and covered with the seedling box lid in the other three seasons except summer. This can retain water and heat and increase the survival rate of the cuttings. In summer, cuttings are planted directly in pots because the seedling pots are too small and the water evaporates easily.

Fertilization requirements

Generally, sufficient base fertilizer is applied when repotting and planting, and no fertilizer is applied at other times. Use chicken manure and a small amount of slow-release fertilizer as base fertilizer. Since the chicken manure has been fermented, it doesn't matter if you use more. The amount of slow-release fertilizer must be controlled according to the size of the pot. The most important point is that the roots cannot come into contact with the fertilizer. During the flowering period, I occasionally apply some fertilizer, using the "Must-Bloom" fertilizer.

Environmental requirements

Margarite has always been kept on the terrace, so it is not exposed to direct sunlight for too long in the summer. In winter, the pots that are given special care will be placed where they are not exposed to rain.

Pruning requirements

Margarite is generally not pruned, only the particularly long branches are shortened during the seedling stage.

How to make a ball

In the first year after being grafted, the marigold will not grow into a very compact ball. Only after experiencing the hot summer and cold winter will the marigold easily grow into a very compact ball. Everyone should pay attention that after summer and winter, many leaves may dry up. As long as there is still green in the center of the branch, do not discard it. Generally, maintain and water it. In March or April of the second year, clean up the dead leaves, change the pot and fertilize. The plant will quickly grow very dense branches and buds, and its volume will be more than 3 or 4 times the original size.

Sunlight is also important. Sunlight and rain are the best nourishment for plants.
