Water spinach is a food that many people love to eat. Its stems and leaves are not only fragrant and crisp, but also rich in vitamins and minerals. Cutting planting of water spinach is a simple and quick propagation method. Let’s learn the cutting planting method of water spinach below. 1. Choose the right stems When cutting, you should choose fresh, healthy, disease- and insect-free water spinach stems, about 10 cm long, with 2-3 nodes. Use a sharp tool to make angled cuts to minimize damage to the stems. 2. Prune leaves It is recommended to remove most of the leaves when cutting, leaving only a small amount of petioles to reduce water evaporation and increase the rooting rate. 3. Prepare the soil Water spinach needs loose and well-drained soil. Peat soil, sandy soil and garden soil can be mixed in a ratio of 3:2:1, or coarse sand, vermiculite and perlite can be added to improve air permeability. 4. Cutting process When cutting, bury one-third of the stem in the soil. Multiple plants can be planted side by side to increase the survival rate. After cuttings, water thoroughly to keep the soil moist and avoid waterlogging. 5. Maintenance after cutting Keep the ambient temperature between 20 and 35°C and avoid direct sunlight. Water thoroughly for the first time after cuttings, and then wait until the soil is dry before watering again, once every 2-3 days. 6. Reasonable fertilization After rooting, apply diluted organic fertilizer , such as enzyme solution, cod liver oil, chicken manure, etc., every 10 days or so. You can also use compound fertilizer or nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, apply it every 15 days, and avoid the fertilizer solution contacting the stems and leaves. 7. Harvest time Sky cabbage will take root 4-7 days after cuttings, and will quickly sprout and grow leaves. When the plant has 5-6 leaves, it can be picked. When picking, cut off the stem from the bottom, leaving some stems and leaves to promote the growth of new shoots. In general, water spinach cuttings is an easy-to-operate planting technique suitable for home planting. With cutting, pruning, soil preparation, cuttings and proper care, you can easily grow and harvest fresh water spinach at home.
