How does coleus survive the winter?

Temperature requirements of coleus

Compared with other plants that are afraid of frost, coleus has a strong adaptability and is distributed in many places in my country. However, its suitable growth temperature is 15 to 25 degrees Celsius. When the temperature drops to around 5 degrees, you must be careful and never leave it outside.

Controlling for other factors

illumination:

When we think of the brilliant colors of coleus, we can also guess that it must love sunshine very much. Otherwise, how can it show its bright colors? In winter, it is best placed indoors in a location where it can receive plenty of sunlight. If there is no such place to put it, you should take it out and expose it to the sun frequently. Not only light, this is also a good way to provide heat. Otherwise, can you bear to see its beautiful colors slowly fade? Of course, one thing to note is that coleus is not suitable for direct sunlight, and too strong light is not good either. In short, soft light is good.

fertilizer:

Like other plants, coleus requires very little nutrients during the winter. If you want to apply it, you can choose fertilizers with more phosphorus content, which can effectively maintain the glossiness of the leaves. Do not overuse fertilizers that are very high in nitrogen, as it can cause the leaves to darken.

Moisture:

Coleus prefers a moist environment. Even though its water demand is relatively reduced in winter, its soil should not be allowed to become too dry. Of course, you can also sprinkle some water on its leaves, which can not only repel moisture but also make its leaves look more beautiful.

soil:

This plant does not have too demanding requirements on the soil, of course, the soil with more nutrients is better.
