The cultivation method and precautions of Bahiag

1. Planting and management

Bahiagia can grow in a variety of soils, but is best suited to slightly acidic sandy soil. We need to prepare the ground before planting to make the seed bed firmer and smoother. Before sowing, it is generally necessary to apply enough fertilizer, mainly phosphorus fertilizer and potassium fertilizer, especially phosphorus fertilizer, which is very important for the growth of bahia grass. Before sowing, bury the fertilizer about 10 cm below the surface through land preparation, which will have a better effect. Nitrogen fertilizer is not suitable for use as base fertilizer before sowing, because nitrogen fertilizer can easily cause a lot of weeds to grow.

2. Planting seeds

The best season for sowing bahia grass is in spring or the beginning of summer. If there is not enough rainfall or good irrigation conditions, do not plant it in the hottest time of summer, otherwise its germination effect will be very poor. If it is used as a lawn, the sowing amount can be increased appropriately, but if it is used for soil and water conservation or forage, less should be planted. Generally, within 3 to 5 weeks after planting, you need to water it several times a day in small amounts. When its seedlings have grown out, you can reduce the frequency of watering. However, the amount of watering needs to be increased to promote its better development and growth.

3. Care at low temperatures

Generally speaking, it is quite drought tolerant, but it grows better under conditions of irrigation or relatively even rainfall. When there is no frost in winter, it can remain green all year round, but when the temperature is low in the cold winter, it will turn yellow. At this time, we can cover it with annual or perennial ryegrass, so that the lawns can always be green.
