Different morphological characteristics

The first is that there are slight differences in the height of the plants. The height of the former is about 30 cm, while the height of the latter is relatively slightly higher, ranging from 30 cm to 40 cm. Secondly, their flowers are different. The first type of plants are generally red, pink or white, and other colors are relatively rare. However, the second type has more styles, including not only pure colors of red, white and pink, but also mixed colors. There are also differences in the fragrance of the flowers. In comparison, the first plant has a stronger fragrance, while the second has a slight fragrance that is not easy to detect. Their flowering periods are also slightly different, with the former blooming from May to October and the latter from April to October.

Different distribution areas

The first type of plant is mainly distributed in some evergreen broad-leaved or deciduous broad-leaved forests in the Yangtze River region, and the main cities include Nanjing, Hefei, Changsha, etc. The second type of plant is distributed more widely. In addition to the area near the Yangtze River mentioned above, it is also grown in the Northeast, North China, and even in Southeast Asia.

Different nicknames

The first type is also called "ground cover dianthus", while the second type of plant has more famous names, such as "bearded dianthus", "ten kinds of dianthus", "American dianthus", etc.

Different habits

What we are talking about here is mainly the difference in temperature that is conducive to the germination of their seeds. The suitable temperature for the first plant seeds is about 15-20℃. If the temperature is higher, it will be inhibited. The seeds of the latter are more likely to germinate when the temperature is 21 or 22 degrees, and its requirements are more stringent.
