Taboos of growing Kalanchoe in winter

Taboos of growing Kalanchoe in winter

The temperature cannot be too low

As mentioned before, this plant cannot tolerate low temperatures, so friends in the north must keep them indoors in winter. The temperature they require is 12-15℃. If the temperature is too low, it will affect their flowering time and may delay flowering.

The temperature cannot be too high

However, friends in the north who have sufficient heating at home should also pay attention. If the indoor temperature exceeds 24℃, it will inhibit their flowering. If you want them to bloom continuously, it is best to keep it at around 15℃. If the temperature is too high, you need to ventilate in time, or spray water around, which can both cool down appropriately and increase humidity and water.

Not too much light

These red flowers do not require much sunlight and are quite sensitive to the photoperiod, so if you want them to bloom, you only need to keep them in eight or nine hours of sunlight a day. If you can keep doing this for about a month, there will be no problem with their growth and they will basically be able to grow buds. If they are exposed to sunlight for too long, they will not like to bloom, so you must control it.

Pests and diseases cannot be ignored

The most common disease of this flower is leaf blight, which is also a disease that other flowers are more prone to. If you find any symptoms, you cannot just sit back and do nothing. First, you should pick off the leaves that have already been affected by the disease, but don't throw them directly into the pot. Then you can spray with an appropriate amount of pesticide to completely eliminate the disease and prevent it from happening again in the near future. If you see scale insects on the stems and leaves, remove the insects. In serious cases, remove the entire leaf. Also, do not leave it in the flowerpot. After dealing with the leaves, just spray them with dimethoate.
