Impatiens sowing time and method

Impatiens sowing time and method

Many rural friends used Impatiens to dye their nails when they were young. Now Impatiens is very popular for its bright flowers and long flowering period, and is very suitable for home cultivation. Let’s learn together about the sowing time and method of Impatiens.

1. Sowing time

Spring is the best season to plant Impatiens because they prefer warm climates, with temperatures around 20 degrees Celsius being the most suitable. Sowing seeds between April and May will help the seeds germinate quickly and healthily.

2. Prepare the soil

There is no particular restriction on the flower pot, as long as it is of moderate size. The soil should be fertile, loose and breathable. You can prepare it yourself by mixing leaf mold and river sand, and keep the soil pH slightly acidic.

3. Sowing process

Before sowing, water the potting soil thoroughly to keep the soil moist but without water accumulation. When sowing, sow the seeds evenly to avoid over-crowding. After sowing, cover with a thin layer of dry soil, the thickness of which should be enough to cover the seeds.

4. Management during the germination period

After sowing, cover with plastic film to keep warm and moisturize, and promote seed germination. Water moderately every day to keep the soil moist. After about 10 days, the seeds will germinate and the plastic film can be removed.

5. Maintenance points

1. Watering

Adjust the frequency of watering according to the season, every 3-4 days in spring and autumn, once every 1-2 days in summer, and once a week in winter.

2. Lighting

Impatiens needs plenty of sunlight, at least 4 hours of sunlight a day. Proper shade is needed under the scorching sun in summer.

3. Temperature

The suitable growth temperature is 6-26 degrees Celsius. In summer, you should spray water frequently to cool down and place the potted plants in a cool and ventilated place. During the flowering period, the temperature should not be lower than 10 degrees Celsius.

4. Fertilization

Apply thin liquid fertilizer once every half a month, mainly compound fertilizer . Increase the use of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers and reduce nitrogen fertilizers before flowering.

The above is the sowing time and method of Impatiens. If you want to try sowing Impatiens yourself, you can follow these steps step by step.
