Clivia cultivation method

Clivia cultivation method

1. Soil

Clivia originally grows under big trees in the forests of southern Africa. Its roots grow on the leaf mold for a long time, so if you want to grow it well, you need to choose suitable soil. Usually, it is mainly loose, fertile, slightly acidic, and humus-rich soil, such as humus, ash and clean sand, and the soil moisture should be kept at around 40%.

2. Fertilization

In the process of fertilization, especially in winter, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers are mainly used. When applying phosphorus fertilizer, you can use fish water, and when applying potassium fertilizer, you can use cigarette ash, etc. Of course, you can also apply compound fertilizer of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium at the same time, which will make the leaves grow better. However, when applying fertilizer, be sure to use the right amount and do not apply raw fertilizer or concentrated fertilizer.

3. Watering

When watering it, it should not be too dry or too wet, and each time you water it, you should water it thoroughly at once. When the flower buds appear, you need to water it a little more. Then you can water it once every 20 days or so. At the same time, you can add a little fish water when watering. In addition, if the temperature is too low, you need to reduce the amount of watering and do not let the soil in the pot be too wet, otherwise the roots of the plant will rot.

4. Temperature

When Clivia is growing, the most suitable temperature is around 20 degrees, but it cannot be lower than 10 degrees, otherwise it will inhibit its growth. Then after the arrow shoots out, the temperature should be kept at around 18 degrees so that it can bloom normally.
