When do azaleas bloom?

1. Eastern and Western Cuckoos

Although our country is the origin of rhododendron, there are many local species of rhododendron. However, many of the rhododendrons we admire come from abroad. There are generally two ways for them to enter my country. One is to be bred and hybridized in Japan and then enter the country. The other is to enter the country from Europe. We generally call the rhododendrons that enter my country from Japan Eastern Rhododendrons, and the rhododendrons that enter my country from Europe Western Rhododendrons.

The flowering period of both is in winter and spring, but the flowering period of the eastern azalea is slightly earlier, and it can bloom around New Year's Day. The flowering period of the western azalea is later, around the Spring Festival.

2. Four Seasons Azalea

In the past decade or so, we often see a rhododendron variety called Four-Season Rhododendron in the market, which does not have a fixed flowering period. Its main flowering period is similar to that of the azalea, around the Spring Festival. In addition, as long as it is maintained properly and the environment is suitable, it can also bloom at other times, but the number of flowers will not be as good as during the main flowering period. However, generally speaking, it will no longer bloom when the summer temperature is above 30℃, but it can bloom in a cool environment.
