The difference between sycamore and magnolia

The difference between sycamore and magnolia

1. Differences in branches

The small branches of mountain plum are densely covered with small hairs at first, which gradually fall off as they mature, and the branches turn gray-brown in color.

The small strips of magnolia are smooth without any hairs, and are purple-brown in color.

2. The difference of leaves

The leaves of the mountain plum are ovate to ovate-oblong, with fine teeth on the edges, sparse short hairs on the front, and dense soft hairs on the back, especially on the veins.

The leaves of the Taipinghua are ovate-elliptical in shape, with generally no small hairs on both sides, and sometimes there are clusters of small hairs on the back.

3. The difference of flowers

The corolla of the philadelphus is white, and the pedicels are long, 5 to 10 mm long, with small hairs.

The corolla of the marigold is milky white in color, and the pedicels are short, 3 to 6 mm long and hairless.
