The difference between Gynostemma pentaphyllum and Apocynum venetum

1. Difference of blades

Gynostemma pentaphyllum usually has 5-7 leaflets, which are ovate-oblong or lanceolate. The petioles are 3-7 cm long, dark green on the upper side and light green on the back. The leaves of Luobu Ma are elliptical-lanceolate to oval-oblong, and the petioles are shorter than the former, about 3-6 mm long.

2. The difference between flowers

Gynostemma pentaphyllum has a panicle inflorescence with a light green or white corolla and 5 deep lobes, each of which is ovate-lanceolate. And Luobu Ma has a paniculate cyme inflorescence, the corolla is purple or pink in color, cylindrical and bell-shaped, and the lobes are oval-oblong.

3. Seed Difference

Gynostemma pentaphyllum seeds are ovate-heart-shaped and gray-brown or dark brown in color. The seeds of Lophatherum gracile are oval-oblong and yellowish brown in color.
