Cultivation methods and precautions of gladiolus

Cultivation methods and precautions of gladiolus

1. Suitable potting soil

When growing gladiolus, you should choose suitable potting soil. The flower pots and planting soil used must be sufficiently breathable. The flower pots can be plastic pots with small holes at the bottom. The soil is best to use sandy soil with good drainage and breathability. Such potting soil will not hinder the growth of the plant during its growth period.

2. Plenty of sunshine

It prefers to be exposed to sunlight and cannot tolerate shade, so it should be exposed to as much sunlight as possible during the breeding period. Especially in winter when sunlight is weak, more light should be given to the plants. However, do not expose it to direct strong sunlight. It is easy to get sunburn marks if it is exposed to the sun for a long time.

3. Water in time

During the growth period of the plant, it is necessary to water it in time to keep the cultivation soil moist and meet its water needs. But during its seedling stage, the amount of watering should be less. When the temperature is relatively high, it is recommended to water the plant once every 3-4 days, but the amount of water must be controlled. Too much water can easily cause root rot and yellow leaves.

IV. Precautions

1. Take appropriate rain shelter measures during the rainy season and drain the water in time after the rain, otherwise too much rainwater in the soil will cause root rot.

2. During its growth period, fertilizer must be applied in time, but the amount of fertilizer must not be too much and the concentration should not be too high. Yellow and dead leaves should be cut off immediately when they are found, otherwise they will consume nutrients.
