Cultivation methods and precautions of whale flower

Cultivation methods and precautions of whale flower

1. Soil

Whale flower has very strict requirements on soil, and the quality of the soil has a great impact on its future growth. Specifically, three aspects are required: nutrition, air permeability and drainage. If all three requirements are to be met at the same time, mixed soil is required. Therefore, you can use leaf mold, perlite, sawdust, etc. to prepare it.

2. Watering

Whale flower requires a lot of water during its growth period, but it should avoid waterlogging. In addition to watering, spraying water should also be done frequently. Therefore, keep the soil slightly moist during vigorous growth and spray water frequently. Summer and winter are exceptions. Water needs to be controlled due to the high temperatures in summer and the low temperatures in winter, and it is better to keep the soil slightly drier.

3. Fertilization

It is also in its growth period when it has a greater demand for fertilizer, but the frequency does not need to be too many, just fertilize once every half a month or twenty days. Various liquid fertilizers can be used. In spring and summer, more nitrogen fertilizers and phosphorus fertilizers can be used, and in autumn, potassium fertilizers can be used instead.

4. Temperature

Whale flower likes warmth, and the temperature between 18 and 22 degrees is most suitable for it. It has poor cold resistance, so it needs to be kept warm in winter, preferably around 15 degrees, not below 10 degrees. Of course, the temperature cannot be too high in summer. It should not exceed 30 degrees and attention should be paid to ventilation.

5. Notes

It likes gentle diffuse light and is best placed in a place with diffuse light, such as a windowsill or balcony with good lighting. It should be noted that strong light must be avoided, especially in summer. Strong light at noon in other seasons also requires shade.
