Apricot trees are one of the most widely planted fruit trees in northern my country. They are deeply loved by fruit farmers for their strong adaptability, easy cultivation, low investment and quick results, and have broad planting prospects. However, during the process of planting apricot trees, the problem of yellowing leaves is often encountered. What is the cause? Let’s learn more about it below. 1. Unsuitable environment Yellowing of almond tree leaves may be caused by environmental problems. It is necessary to ensure that the environmental conditions for the growth of apricot trees are good, including sufficient sunlight, suitable temperature and humidity, etc. If environmental conditions are not ideal, consider moving the apricot tree to a location more suitable for growing. 2. Improper watering The yellowing of leaves on apricot trees may be caused by drought due to long-term lack of water, or it may be caused by excessive waterlogging. Pay attention to mastering the correct watering method. Apricot trees are drought-resistant and do not need frequent watering. Generally, watering four times a year is sufficient. First, before budding, between March and April, watering to promote branch growth; second, when flower buds differentiate in early June; third, from late July to early August; and fourth, before the soil freezes. 3. Excessive fertilization If too much fertilizer is applied, the leaves will turn yellow due to fertilizer damage. There are two solutions in this situation. One is to water the apricot tree immediately and use water to dilute the fertilizer. Another way is to change the soil of the apricot tree, and it will gradually recover after a period of time. Of course, the amount of fertilizer applied cannot be too little, and the necessary nutrients must be guaranteed, otherwise it will affect normal growth and development. 4. Impact of pests and diseases The yellowing leaves of apricot trees may also be caused by pests and diseases such as brown rot and red spider mites. For brown rot, lime sulfur mixture can be used during the bud stage, and 70% thiophanate-methyl or 5% mancozeb can be used for prevention and control about a week after flowering. For red spider mites, you can spray carbendazim and metsulfuron to effectively control this pest. 5. Other inappropriate management measures Yellow leaves can also be caused by root damage during transplanting, root collapse during planting, branches bitten by animals or the skin injured by humans, poor ventilation and light transmission, etc. In general, there are many reasons why apricot leaves turn yellow. By identifying the specific cause and implementing the appropriate treatment plan, we can effectively solve the problem of yellowing leaves of apricot trees, promote their healthy growth and increase fruit yield and quality.
