Nettle cultivation methods and precautions

Nettle cultivation methods and precautions

1. Maintenance methods

1. Soil: Nettles generally grow in places where the soil is not very fertile, such as ravines and rivers. Therefore, when cultivating them, you must also choose the soil according to their growth habits. The first condition that must be met is drainage. If the drainage is not good, the roots of the plants will easily be waterlogged. Therefore, you must choose soil with good drainage. The growth of the plant requires certain nutrients, so the fertility of the soil must also be taken into consideration. Therefore, in summary, when choosing soil suitable for the growth of nettles, it must have good drainage and be relatively fertile.

2. Watering: Before watering it each time, you need to observe the condition of the soil. You can only water it when the soil is completely dry. According to common sense, the plant seedlings need to be watered once when they grow to about 30 centimeters, and need to be watered once before closing the ridges. If there is drought, manual watering is required, and the frequency of watering is once a week.

3. Fertilization: After applying enough base fertilizer, topdressing is also needed according to the growth status of nettle. Especially during the growth period, nitrogen fertilizer is needed to meet its growth needs. If the plant is in good health, fertilizing once a month is sufficient.

4. Light: If there is not enough light, the plant will grow poorly. Therefore, during the growth process, its light needs must be met at a time, with at least five hours of light per day.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Reproduction: It can be propagated by division, and the time of reproduction is in early April every year. First, the seed roots should be collected, and then customized according to the row spacing of 70 cm, the plant spacing of 20 cm, the hole depth of 30 cm, and finally covered with 5 cm of soil and watered enough. Seedlings will emerge in about ten days.

2. Weeding: Carry out the first weeding after all the seedlings have emerged. No weeding is required after the ridges are closed.

3. Problem Diagnosis

1. Pests: During the growing period, the plant is easily infected by aphids and leaf miners, which will eat the tender leaves of the plant and affect its growth. If found, omethoate can be used for spraying treatment.

2. Disease: Powdery mildew is easily induced during the hot season. You can use Doctor Bai to spray it once a week, and it can be eradicated in about three times.

IV. Other issues

1. Edible: It is edible.

2. Is it suitable for home cultivation? There are small thorns on the edges of nettles, which can easily sting people, so it is not suitable for home cultivation.
