The difference between French orchid and amaryllis

1. Differences in plant types

French orchid and amaryllis look very similar and are basically difficult to distinguish, but the two are not the same plant and have differences.

The French orchid is larger and looks taller. If you put two plants of the same age together, you can tell them apart. The one that is obviously thicker and taller is the French orchid.

The plants of Amaryllis are smaller and not that tall. It has many nicknames, such as Huazhou Orchid, Red Pillar Orchid, and Solitary Orchid, but it is fundamentally different from the former French Orchid.

2. Flower Differences

The flowers of French orchids are lighter in color, mainly pink with red lines on them. The color is relatively soft and subtle. The color is not very strong, but it is brighter. It emits a faint fragrance when it blooms.

The color of Amaryllis is relatively strong and bright red. However, some varieties are pure white in color, which is different from the former.

3. Leaf Difference

The leaves of the French orchid are darker in color and have a vertical line down the middle.

The leaves of Amaryllis are lighter in color and the line in the middle is not obvious.
