The difference between Aspidistra and Spathiphyllum

1. Morphological differences

The rhizome of Aspidistra is cylindrical in shape, with a diameter of about 5-10 mm. The leaves are usually solitary, relatively narrow and long, about 22-46 cm in length, gradually becoming pointed at the tip, with some wrinkles on the edges. In addition to green, there are also small yellow-white dots.

The white calla lily has no stem, or the stem is very short, with a rhizome, and the overall height is about 30-40 cm. Its leaves are relatively wide, oval in shape, generally entire, and sometimes with fissures.

2. Flower Differences

The flowers of Aspidistra are quite peculiar and easy to identify. They bloom on the rhizomes that are exposed above the soil. They are purple in color, dark purple on the outside and lighter inside. It is usually purple, but other colors are now bred.

The spathe of white calla lily is relatively large, the flower pavilion is usually higher than the leaf surface, and it grows milky yellow fleshy inflorescences.

3. Different varieties

The former is a plant of the Liliaceae family and the Aspidistra genus, mainly distributed in the southern region, and is also called Liaoye, Luoye, and Liaoye.

The latter is a plant of the Araceae family and the genus Araceae.
