1. Different pseudobulbsThe pseudobulb under the Jianlan plant is relatively large and can absorb nutrients from the ground. It is spherical in shape, about 1.5-2.5 cm long and 1-1.5 cm wide. Cymbidium is quite similar to the former, but the difference can be distinguished from this aspect. Its pseudobulbs are relatively small and grow in clusters at the roots. They are oval in shape, but the root system is relatively thick and absorbs nutrients mainly through the roots of the orchid. 2. Different leavesThe leaves of Jianlan are relatively soft in texture. They feel soft to the touch, the surface is relatively smooth, and the veins are not very clear. The leaves of Cymbidium are hard in texture and have some serrations on the edges. They feel prickly and uncomfortable to the touch. If you look against the light, you will find that the veins are very obvious. 3. Different flowersJianlan has fewer flowers, about 3-9 flowers, and blooms late, around June to October. Cymbidium orchid is also called nine-flower orchid. It has a relatively large number of flowers. Generally, there are about 9 to 13 flowers on one flower stalk. And its flowering period is relatively early, usually around March in spring, and some can bloom as early as February. |
